The SCP Youth Soccer Francisco "Chico" Silva Memorial Scholarship.
The SCP Youth Soccer Francisco "Chico" Silva Memorial Scholarship celebrates and remembers the life of Francisco Silva — a passionate, dedicated player within the Luso soccer community of the Tri-State Area. Born in Portugal, Chico immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s and quickly became a fixture in the local soccer community, including Sport Club Portuguese, Barriadinos, and others. His love for the game extended beyond personal play — he was a mentor to younger players, a reliable teammate, and a knowledgeable student of the sport, competing in leagues such as L.I.S.A. and the Interstate Italian American Soccer League.
Chico's passion for soccer was matched only by his love for his family. He was a loving husband, adored father, and cherished grandfather, and his commitment to his family showed in every part of his life. To ensure his memory and passion for the game live on, this scholarship was created to support future generations of soccer players as they pursue their own dreams on the field.
Awarded each year to promising male or female high school seniors, to assist with the costs of attending the college or trade school of their choice.
