What families should know before committing to the SCP Travel program.
Payments for the SCPYS Elite Travel Program are non-refundable under any circumstances. Upon receipt of the first payment, SCPYS commits to holding the roster spot for your child and guaranteeing them a place to play for the coming season — in exchange, families agree to a full financial commitment for that season, and to waive their right to later cancel authorization for these charges.
SCPYS team formation happens during the same window when many clubs are running tryouts and the pool of players seeking a new club is at its highest — so there are usually more players trying out than there are roster spots, meaning some players are necessarily turned away so others can be offered a spot. If a rostered player later drops out, the pool of replacement players from that same tryout period is much smaller, making it difficult to fill the roster with players of the ability and commitment the rest of the team anticipated.
This financial commitment is considerable but necessary — not because players change their minds from time to time, but to avoid damage to the club that would result if families could avoid their agreed obligations. That includes direct costs to the club and indirect costs from forcing other committed families to absorb the impact of one family's change of heart.
In exchange, your family has the security of knowing your child's roster spot won't be given to another player under any circumstances — and that every other family on the team is bound by the same non-refundable commitment, which is part of what makes it possible to build a roster with confidence months before the season starts. Team decisions — including coaching staff, leagues and tournaments, roster size, and playing time — are made by the coaching staff and club leadership, not by individual families, and disagreement with those decisions is not grounds for a refund. Should a family choose to remove their child from the club, their full financial commitment for that season remains due. There are no exceptions to this policy.
